Site Rules

1. Platform Overview

1.1. Kone and Subs

Kone is a community platform composed of multiple communities called Subs. Each Sub has its own topic, URL, and online space distinct from other Subs. All visitors contribute to the maintenance and operation of the community.

1.2. Sub Operation

Users can set the topic of a Sub and operate it themselves. If there is no Sub for your desired topic, you may create a new one with community approval. Some users may serve as Sub Moderators who manage and facilitate activity within a Sub. Refer to the Sub Management Guide for appropriate operational direction.

1.3. Topic Adherence

Each Sub is a space for users to communicate about a specific topic. All users must engage in activity relevant to each Sub's topic.

1.4. Rights and Responsibilities

Copyright of all content posted to a Sub belongs to the user who posted it. Responsibility for any issues arising from posted content also rests with that user. These rights and responsibilities are set forth in the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. All users must comply with these documents.

1.5. Sub Rules

If the Site Rules alone are insufficient for operating a Sub, users and moderators may establish separate Sub rules. Proper Sub rules should not exclude users and must guarantee normal activity. Users must respect and comply with such rules.

2. Content Classification

All content and elements on Kone are evaluated for NSFW (Not Safe For Work) attributes. Users can control whether to view NSFW content through settings.

2.1. NSFW Determination

2.1.1. Determining Authority

Sub Moderators can apply or remove NSFW attributes within their Sub through Sub settings. The Kone moderation team can apply or remove NSFW attributes on all content. Settings applied by the Kone team cannot be modified by users or moderators until the team removes them.

2.1.2. Criteria

The Kone team comprehensively considers the topic, nature, and posting frequency of content when determining NSFW attributes. Users and moderators may adjust NSFW settings at their discretion, but such adjustments must not constitute abuse of Sub features.

2.1.3. Appeals

Users, including moderators, may appeal NSFW determinations made by the Kone team by contacting contact@kone.gg. The Kone team reserves the right to accept or reject such appeals.

2.1.4. Scope

Subs can be designated as NSFW by the Kone team or moderators. NSFW Subs receive an NSFW tag, and all tabs and posts within are treated as NSFW.

2.2. Viewing Restrictions

Logged-in users can adjust NSFW settings to control viewing restrictions. Disabling "Show adult content (I am 18+)" prevents access to NSFW Sub posts with a sensitive content warning. Enabling "Blur adult content" applies a blur effect with an NSFW warning overlay that can be temporarily dismissed.

3. Prohibited Content and Information

Violations are classified as either Restricted (may result in sanctions depending on circumstances) or Prohibited (completely banned). Items without explicit "prohibited" mention are treated as restricted.

3.1. Prohibited Content

The following content is prohibited from being posted or distributed on Kone. Such content will be removed and may not be reposted.

3.1.1. Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)

All pedophilic pornography depicting children or minors; posts indicating possession of CSAM; posts planning, depicting, or encouraging sexual crimes or prostitution targeting minors; and all other content related to sexual crimes against minors.

3.1.2. Snuff Material

All snuff media including snuff films, audio recordings, and gore imagery; posts planning or encouraging the creation of snuff media.

3.2. Restricted Content

The following content is restricted from posting and distribution. Habitual posting that significantly impacts site operation may be elevated to prohibited status.

3.2.1. Antisocial Content

Content that clearly deviates from common social ethics is restricted: content that is offensive to a majority of users; content depicting human or animal corpses or mutilation; content featuring urination, defecation, or the results thereof.

3.3. Non-Photorealistic Content Exception

Content restrictions are based on photorealistic content. Non-photorealistic content is exempt from these rules, except when it cannot be clearly distinguished from photorealistic content (e.g., highly detailed or AI-generated content), in which case it is treated as photorealistic.

3.4. Information Distribution

The following information is prohibited from being posted or distributed. The non-photorealistic exception does not apply.

3.4.1. Privacy Violation

Information that can identify another person's identity (real name, national ID numbers, contact information, photos, address, etc.); posts intended to defame or mock a specific individual.

3.4.2. Promoting Antisocial Behavior

Facilitating meetups for the purpose of prostitution or sexual encounters.

3.4.3. Encouraging Criminal Activity

Glorifying, soliciting, or encouraging crime; soliciting or facilitating criminal acts; threats or intimidation; hacking tools, malware, and viruses; pyramid schemes and illegal gambling promotion; encouraging suicide beyond casual conversation; detailed descriptions of harmful drug effects or manufacturing methods that encourage use, manufacture, or distribution; and any other information that motivates or facilitates criminal activity.

4. Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are prohibited or restricted on the platform. Prohibited items are completely banned; restricted items may result in sanctions depending on severity and frequency.

4.1. External Messenger Links

Posting links to external messenger platforms is prohibited without prior agreement with the Kone team.

4.2. Referral and Revenue Links

Posting referral links or any links through which the poster can earn revenue is prohibited without prior agreement with the Kone team.

4.3. Advertising

Users may place advertisements on Kone through the user advertising feature. However, the following advertisements are not permitted.

4.3.1. Prohibited Advertisements

All commercial advertisements (permitted only with prior agreement with the Kone team); advertisements encouraging sabotage against specific Subs, external websites, or businesses; advertisements containing prohibited content.

4.3.2. Restricted Advertisements

Advertisements that may be mistaken for official Kone positions; advertisements containing pledges to induce upvotes, downvotes, subscriptions, or notifications; advertisements encouraging negative behavior targeting specific users; advertisements that are likely to cause discomfort to a majority of users (e.g., stimulating visual effects or offensive language).

4.4. Impersonation

The following acts of impersonation are prohibited.

4.4.1. Impersonating Kone Staff

The Kone team does not make announcements through user accounts. Claiming to be a member of the Kone team or attempting to leverage such a position is prohibited.

4.4.2. Impersonating Other Users

Impersonating another user to gain tangible or intangible benefits; impersonating another user to cause harm to that person or discomfort to other users.

4.5. Sub System Abuse

All acts of misusing the Sub system in ways inconsistent with the usage guidelines are restricted.

4.5.1. Feature Abuse

Misusing any Sub feature for purposes other than its intended use (e.g., abusing NSFW settings to deliberately obstruct access to a Sub that would not normally be considered NSFW).

4.5.2. Sub Trading and Seizure

Transferring or lending a Sub to others for monetary compensation; seizing a Sub through deception or deliberate sabotage; directly or indirectly participating in or conspiring to perform such acts.

4.5.3. Indiscriminate Sub Creation

Repetitive Sub creation, closure, or moderator delegation that cannot be considered normal activity; neglecting Sub management without reasonable justification.

4.6. Site Sabotage

Acts that interfere with normal site operation are restricted. If such acts cause critical damage to site operation, the involved users may be permanently banned. This includes: creating or using scraping bots, automated posting, or download scripts without authorization; exploiting security or functional vulnerabilities to attempt hacking or cracking.

5. Moderator Conduct

5.1. Responsibilities

Sub Moderators are responsible for maintaining their Sub in accordance with the Site Rules and their Sub's own rules. Moderators must act with transparency and consistency when enforcing rules and taking moderation actions.

5.2. Removal of Authority

Moderator authority may be removed by the Kone team if: the moderator consistently fails to comply with the Site Rules or Terms of Service; the moderator acts without transparency or consistency in enforcement; a majority of the Sub's active users express disagreement with the moderator's conduct through legitimate means.

6. Enforcement

Use of Kone is a privilege, not a right. The Kone team may take the following actions to revoke some or all of a user's privileges for violations of the Terms of Service or Site Rules. These actions may be taken without prior notice.

6.1. Staff Notice

For certain rule violations, users may first receive a warning and request for cooperation rather than direct action. Notices are delivered via email or the Admin section of notifications.

6.2. Content Restriction

When content violating the Terms of Service or Site Rules is found, the content may be blinded or access restricted depending on the violated provision.

6.3. Feature and Permission Restriction

Site features or granted permissions related to the violation may be partially restricted. Such restrictions may be temporary or permanent. Users with elevated permissions (such as moderators) who violate rules may have some or all of those permissions revoked.

6.4. Account Suspension

When rule violations are determined to have a significant negative impact on Kone's operation (such as posting prohibited content or habitual violations), the user's account may be suspended. Suspended users are banned from all Kone services, including creating new accounts.
